About the Artist:

Hello I’m Berry Lohr, I’m 29 and from Long Island, NY. I have been passionate about photography since I was little and have taken multiple photography classes in high school that aimed toward taking pictures and also working with Photoshop and learning a variety of editing techniques. After graduating high school I got a two year acting for film degree at the New York Film Academy and not only learned about acting but also a variety of details of behind the camera work and lighting which has been a large help in lighting in my photography work.

I have finished my Bachelor’s Degree in photography at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division. With this degree I have been able to utilize the variety of resources that surrounds me from the multitude of beaches, both large well known and small town beaches, parks and wooded areas, a variety of wildlife, farmland, vineyards, both newer and older towns/structures, and New York City all within a relatively short driving distance from me. Being surrounded by so many different styles growing up has greatly impacted how I see the world around me and treasure the scenes, people, and life that inhabit the environment.

Artist Statement:

I always look for the uniqueness in the world around me and strive to show even the most seemingly mundane, everyday scenes in a different light. I enjoy simply watching the world around me, whether it be alone out in nature or surrounded by strangers in a shopping center or on a sidewalk. Through this, I have observed the life and stories pulsing from not only people but from all the elements. There are many unique hidden gems hidden all around us and, as the world is constantly evolving, our busy lives just rush us by these treasures. With all of the subjects I photograph I aim to bring that scene, object, person or animal to life and to showcase the character of the environment.
